Another successful Boomerang is in the books! Congratulations to LYC members and volunteers who put on an excellent event and to LYC sailors for shining at our home regatta! The blustery conditions were perfect for the inside Boomerang course and the 102 sailor Opti Fleet completed six races. LYC sailors picked up great podium places in Optis with every winner earning only five points!
Connor Boland won Red Fleet as LYC held the top five positions (Jack Redmond 2nd, Ryan Kronrad 3rd, Lucy Meagher 4th and Nico
Garcia-Castrillon 5th).
Cody Roe notched a victory in White Fleet with LYC holding five of the top six positions (Jake Homberger 2nd, Will McDiarmid 3rd, Cole Fanchi 4th, Andrew Lamm 6th). Lulu Hamilton captured 1st in Blue Fleet as once again LYC held on to five of the top six positions (KJ Hill 3rd, Kevin Gosselin 4th, Tyler Lamm 5th, Lauren Carron 6th). Pierce Weber was the top LYC Green Fleeter in 5th as Luca Damiano was 7th and Millie French 9th.
The Atlantic was too wild for the Laser fleet to exit Port Everglades Inlet so the fleet of 17 Radials and 10 4.7s stayed inshore to do some close quarters channel racing. 11 races were scored in to days. These were very difficult shifty races where sailors had to anticipate the shifts coming down the course. In the Radial Fleet there was a tight battle between LYC racers Chapman Petersen and Matthew Wallace. They were tied heading into the 11th and final race! Chapman was able to hold off Matthew for the close victory and trophy hoist! James Paul was 3rd, Joey Meagher 4th and Scott Harris was 5th. LYC’s Chris Purcell won the Laser 4.7 Fleet with Emma Asturias in 6th and Michael Morely 7th.
