LYC had another awesome day of summer camp!
A reminder to the parents: Please make sure your child is coming with a water bottle and sunscreen. It is soo important for them to stay hydrated and protected throughout the day!
Mercury Mentors
Mercury Mentor sailors hit the water this morning in the light and shifty summer Lauderdale breeze. Coach Dae reviewed the parts of the boat and points of sail during their sail. Most importantly, the sailors had their first day steering the boat! They are excited to steer again tomorrow!
Beginner Opti
The beginner opti sailors practiced their steering skills on a tow to the Cove. They have improved a great amount and have started to get a better feel for the boat. The sailors have also shown the coaches that they know how to implement “tiller towards trouble” on the water! Despite there being a lack of wind in the morning, everyone was in a boat and sailed!
Green Fleet
The green fleet sailors practiced some more starts and racing skills! Coach Stephen is making sure they are working hard to hone in on specific skills, while still having fun. The kids ended the day with a fun game of Opti tennis ball tag!
420s
The 420 sailors had a fun day on the water! They sailed a figure eight course which allowed them to practice their tacks, gybes, and racing rules (starboard/port). At the end of the day, the kids joined in with the Green Fleet for a game of tennis ball tag!
