Seventh Day in a Row of Sailing!

Today was a great day of clear skies and lots of fun! Often times, the weather does not cooperate to give so many days in a row!

Friendly Reminder that this week is Friday Night Fun Racing! An afternoon of on-water games and activities to introduce the racing side of sailing. Friday Night Fun Racing isn’t just for the kids, parents too!

Mercury Mentors

With another day on the water the kids furthered their knowledge of steering and tacking, and were introduced to gybing. Each child steered, tacked, and gybed, allowing for lots of fun and giggles.

Beginner Opti

This morning,  the kids endured another adventure in the cove. With a main focus of working on tacking, the time on the water improved also improved their general sailing knowledge.

In the afternoon, the children were introduced to the sailing race course. Going laps around the course, the kids experienced what fun racing can be and how fun this Friday will be. Some coaches hopped in the opti’s and did visual demonstrations making the kids more comfortable to be out sailing and causing good laughs.

Green Fleet

With a fun morning in the cove, the kids got to improve all of their sailing and experience shifty conditions.

In the afternoon the children witnessed Coach Stephen hop in the Opti and demonstrate proper upwind sailing tactics and tacks.

420’s

During the morning, the fleet focused on proper tacking and gybing methods.

In the afternoon the wind began to pick up. This allowed the kids to focus on handling the boat in heavier wind. They worked on hiking and releasing the sail to depower.
