Stormy Start to the Week

We had a stormy start to the last week of summer sailing! If there is lightning less than 7 miles away, we can’t send the kids sailing. Fortunately, we were able to get out sailing in the late morning with some awesome wind!

Coach Sophia worked on long upwinds and downwinds with the Green Fleeters. The sailors did a hiking race upwind to see who could stay hiking the longest! On the downwinds, they focused on technique for heavy air sailing!

I went sailing with the 420 kids! We worked on hiking and easing the sail upwind when the boat heels over. We also worked on wing on wing sailing downwind and how to balance the boat!

The beginner optis worked on a triangle course to practice their tacking angles and sail trim! They are starting to get a hang of sailing around a course!

In the afternoon, we unfortunately didn’t get sailing due to some more thunder storms. The radar looks much better tomorrow so lets hope it stays that way! -Coach Anna-
