The last day of camp, our sailors put their learning to the test. Everyone did amazing! Since it was really windy we again went to The Cove and set a course for Green Fleet and Opti LTS. For the first time that I’ve ever seen, all the sailors started properly, were close to the start line and finished the entire course! We’re so impressed! We had two races in the morning. We wanted to head out for more races, but the weather gods weren’t kind to us in the afternoon. We did have prizes for everyone at the end of the day though! Again, we were really impressed with our Session 1 sailors! They all learned to sail upwind, which is amazing!
Mercury Mentors also had a little competition at the end of the session. We had a timed race around the sandbar in front of LYC with relay races on land as well. They were really into it and showed their newfound skills of sailing!
Although we had some inclement weather during this session, the new sailors surpassed our expectations!
