Bella Casaretto’s winter break didn’t include any breaks from sailing! She went straight to the Nacra 15 Midwinters East *Event 1 US Youth Worlds Team Qualifiers held January 2-4 in Clearwater Beach, Florida.  She and fellow LYC Opti Alum Justin Callahan sailed this event Youth Worlds Qualifier together. This event and two upcoming events will also be considered when US Sailing selects the single US Youth Olympic Team to compete this summer in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This was a difficult regatta where teams endured almost freezing 35 degree temperatures, high winds and lots of obstructions in the course (sandbars) due to racing taking place inside a protected waterway instead of outside in the Gulf. Bella took on the new role of crew with Justin as skipper.  Bella and Justin had a great first Nacra regatta placing 3rd overall!
