Day 6 Session 1- Summer Sailing Camp

Today was review day! We went back over the lessons learned last week after a couple days off.

Coach Lucy was really happy with her Green Fleet sailors who picked up right where they left off! Today, GF did tacking practice, body positioning and looking forward while trimming the sail and steering. After a long day of sailing they stopped at the sandbar in front of LYC for a small bit of relaxation.

This morning Mercury Mentors reviewed tacking from last week and they all steered through some tacks. Some police boats were in the area and Mercury Mentors were excited to wave hi! Right before lunch it was low tide so the sandbar was almost completely exposed. The Mercs told me they named it “Mercury Mentor Island’ after they explored it for a few minutes.

In the morning Opti LTS reviewed tacking and sailing straight from last week and went for a sail around a triangle course. We’re almost there with them sailing around the course after this afternoon. It’s tough to sail against the wind!

Tomorrow’s forecast looks ready for more sailing!
